NOV 4th......The single most important day in U.S POLITICS in my lifetime.
Wednesday, November 5, 2008we did it.
WE DID THE RIGHT THING.
PRESIDENT BARACK OBAMA WILL SEE THE WHOLE WORLD FROM THE WHITE HOUSE.........
all the bullshit and stupid campaigning is now done.
My only regret is I know my father would have loved to have seen this go down and he was digging Obama a year ago at this time and called it. He knew he would win. Good call pop. Good call indeed. I also know he would have had an incredible amount of laughter and jaw dropping moments regarding sarah palin. Luckily she gets to go away. My father however would have wanted her to win..........that's the funny part. He would have loved her so much he would have wanted her running the whole show!!!!!!!.........Im so so so so so so happy that didnt happen. I think even he would have been pleased with just having her for the campaign and would be happy she lost. SHE LOST , MCCAIN LOST.........the right candidate won this evening!
President Obama delivered quite possibly the single most important and stunning speech in US politics since JFK this evening. This was truly everything I wanted to have happen. An amazing historic evening , fueled by hope, positivity and care and respect. Even senator McCain , not my favorite person of later delivered an incredible speech.
Now its time to do the real work. Now its time to roll up the sleeves and be the best we can be, not just be #1 and the best in the world........thats horseshit. NOW ITS TIME TO BE THE BEST TO EACH OTHER and this is not some hippy bullshit koom by yah nonsense.
we have a lot of work to do and tonight we took the major first step in electing the right person to do that work.
Don't think for an instant I didn't notice that thick tall bullet proof glass on the stage sharing the spotlight with President Obama as he gave the single most stunning speech and the single most moving and powerful address I have ever heard by a president in my lifetime. I was moved to tears, IM not afraid to admit that. I really believe in this man. I really think great things can happen if we believe that great things can happen.
I also have fear and know that there are a lot of assholes out there that don't want that change.
well fuck em............they're about to get it and you know what? At the end of the day I bet they appreciate it. President Obama in my eyes , right now , is a mix of FDR, Jackie Robinson and JFK........he has all the tools to energize the world and settle things down. LETS DO IT..........let's let him do it. But let's also keep our eyes on him and make sure some nutcase fuck head doesn't get a shot at him. We cannot let history repeat itself.
Im proud to be an american again. Im proud to say I can go overseas and talk to people again and know that my president, MY FUCKING PRESIDENT , is a great person and in all probability going to engage in real open , honest, sincere dealings with the president of the person im speaking with.
we got our country back tonight...........we did it.
we really did it.
YES WE CAN.......................YES WE CAN!!!!!!!!!
be well,
MOWO!™

We did it
We did the right thing; moved to tears here, too. Moreso, the world-wide positive reaction was overwhelming. It's a good indication of how at-odds the world has been with our soon to be gone "leadership" (can you call Bush leadership? Um, no).
Damn, you're talented! Love your work.

Thanks for doing the right thing
Congratulations to you and all Americans from this European :) for 'doing the right thing'. You are right in feeling proud again and being able to speak to any foreigner without facing at least a great amount of incomprehension or shear hate at worst.
By choosing Obama, you (meaning Americans, not you personally because I do not doubt you to be a good person) have shown the rest of the world - having grown sick and tired of that second Bush, even completely finishing his SECOND term! - that you are not those gung-ho trigger happy blunt cowboys you have seemed to be for the past years. We (meaning the rest of the world) have seen you crying and dancing with joy. We have seen your emotion listening to Obama speech and - speaking for myself and I am sure for many others here in Europe - felt that same emotion, the same hope for a brighter future and the same belief that a new page in history has been written. Even the most cynical have to admit to have been touched by Obama's words. We remember Berlin, we see the news and listen to the speeches and we share your belief in the possibilities. Because somehow, great things seems possible again simply because he says so. And like you MOWO, I am convinced that they are!
I am also convinced that after these great speeches, when it is time 'to do it' America will find that the rest of the world will be thrilled to join and support you without the need for threatening words like 'You're either with us or against us!'. I dare even say that many people I know who have fiercely argued against anything American - deep down and in spite of the crisis - would not mind living in America today. Just to be closer to what promises to become the single most important inauguration in our living history :)
Thanks for doing the right thing!

Always a great read MOWO! Thanks for sharing your insights and experiences. After 8 years of banging our collective heads against the wall we can finally celebrate. Obama is such a class act. I've been voting since '72 and this is the first time that I've been this excited about an election.
I also lost my Dad recently. He was all about music and usually a really positive guy. But we was as amazed and disgusted about Bush as I was. We usually reserved a good fifteen minutes in our phone conversations to rant about the fucked up administration. I really wish he could have seen Obama get elected. So Adam this one is for your Dad and mine. Somehow I have to believe they're both up there smiling.
