Why Bail Out The Big 3????
Tuesday, November 18, 2008wtf!?!?!?
I dont get it. Hi US Government..........my business is failing because I make incredibly bad products and I manage my north american business so poorly I need the government to help me out. Do you think that the all mighty US government would hand MOWO! INC a nice check for say , I dunno......$5 million bucks?
NO, it wouldn't
DID YOU KNOW?
GM is the number 2 seller of automobiles in China behind volkswagen and its Buick brand is not only popular there but thriving? They've sold twice as many Buicks in china in the last year than they have in the United States........and we have to bail them out? ( I do realize that selling 8 buicks instead of 4 still might have the company operating at a loss , HA! )
How about Brazil where GM is also number two and working without a partner ( In china almost all if not all foreign companies must have a domestic partner ) Ford, yeah, doing well in Brazil as well.
brazil , russia , india and china ( AKA "BRICS" ) are the burgeoning car markets for the world and the US companies are doing very well in most of them.
I don't get it. I really dont get why the failing north american operations should get paid?
The only thing I can think of is the fact that GMAC a huge home mortgage company is also part of GM's suffering. They need help because lots of bad mortgages out there are defaulting.
Meanwhile they find amazing success in other nations. I dont get it. But I do understand that , there are tens of thousands of jobs at stake.
I just wish they didnt spend the last 15 years making such shitty cars. That's what it comes down to. SUV's.............SUV's did them in. The SUV is to automobiles what the SUPER GIANT 64 oz BIG GULP is to soda......REALLY REALLY REALLY BAD for anyone that gets around it. I realize I helped sell NAVIGATORS the last couple of years with my music. I know I was part of the problem. That deal doesnt exist anymore and I have to be honest. I didn't go out and spend that money on more suv's and more 64oz servings of fanta orange soda. But , a fella has to earn a buck too. Especially when he likes to dress up like a woman on the weekends and buy size 13 Christian Loubouton high heels*.......( man those fuckers are expensive)
*MOWO! does not dress up like a broad on the weekends......*
anyway....
China and India are getting ready to gear up ( pun intended ) to make their own cars,( India's TATA "NANO" is going to be their MODEL T of India for example and sell for about 2,500$ ).India and China make cars cheaply and make a fortune..........is there room on earth for the 300 million plus automobiles expected to be made in the next 5-6 years? I dont think so. Those cars better run on air......because we dont even have enough water to run them. Russia will soon outpace Germany for autos made in Europe. The world is changing. The US needs to change with it.
Bailing out the big three makes no sense to me, but it has to get done.
I say , bail them out, appoint a NORTH AMERICAN AUTO CZAR and make these assholes make cars that are electric once and for all and that DONT suck. We should make vehicles that not only shun the use of gas and oil......but invent new technologies and therefore provide news jobs to manufacture the new products needed for those new technologies. Easier said than done, old habits die hard and greed will slow progress. That's my take on it.
word!
hahaha
be well,
MOWO!™

No Bail Out!!!
This is VERY interesting .. it is a short video of a new Ford plant in Brazil.
One look at this and you will be able to tell why there will probably never be another assembly plant built in the USA. It will
also point out why more assembly plants will go offshore.
After you watch this, you really need to take the time to write your Congressman and Senators urging them NOT to support the proposed bailout of the big three automakers. It will quite obviously be another large chunk of our (taxpayers) money going for a futile cause -
because those companies are not ever going to be able to change enough to be successful until the UAW is willing to make some huge changes. And that seems unlikely.
Do not be scared into thinking that Ford, GM, and Chrysler are going to go under. They will survive, but their assembly operations in the US likely won't -- whether we provide a bailout or not.
And keep in mind that a huge percentage of the cars sold in the USA are made in the USA today -- not just by Ford, GM, and Chrysler -- but by Toyota, Honda, and many of the rest. They are built by American workers and they are being profitable. Why, you must ask?
Because they are non-union operations and do not have the UAW hanging
around their necks like large ship anchors.

Here's why...
Union legacy costs...research that. Research quality issues too - and you'll see that actually the quality is up with imports. Perception.
UAW straps them and they can't afford to make better looking cars...It also explains why they thrive in other countries where they don't have unions.
Think about it.
totally understand the union legacy costs
I didnt want to start ragging on unions. THE UNIONS backed OBAMA very very very strongly.
Its a weird situation. The unions kind of becamse what they resisted and the auto industry has suffered as a result.
very tricky stuff to deal with.
Im very very concerned about how to move forward in detroit.
japanese car makers have been and will continue to kick our asses in our own country for years to come.
thanks for pointing that out though, you are spot on.
